Linux Professional Institute Turns 15! 
 
Empowering Linux Professionals Through Certification 
 
On October 25th, 2014, the Linux Professional Institute celebrated the start of 
its fifteenth year as an organization. In this time LPI has delivered over 
430,000 exams worldwide, becoming the leading vendor-independent Linux 
certification organization. The organization has helped over 150,000 
professionals pursue their Linux career goals through certification.

Cisco Networking Academy and Linux Essentials 
 
NDG Linux Essentials course helps put learning Linux within reach worldwide 
 
The Cisco Networking Academy recently adopted a course developed by NDG aligned 
to LPI’s Linux Essentials professional development certificate program. This 
course makes Linux fundamentals accessible to thousands of learners worldwide 
from high school to university through the Cisco NetSpace. The course features 
an embedded Linux virtual machine so students can have hands on practice with 
the Linux command line, without increasing the IT burden on academic 
institutions.

Linux Professional Institute Certifications Awarded e-Skills Quality Label by 
EXIN 
 
Supported by the European e-Skills Association 
 
LPI certifications were recently awarded the first e-Skills Quality Label by 
EXIN based on the European e-Competence Framework (e-CF). The framework is 
designed to standardize 40 Information and Communications Technology (ICT) 
competencies, skills and proficiency levels across Europe. The goal of this 
effort is to increase the transparency, mobility and efficiency of ICT sector 
related human resources.

 LPI Exam Update News

LPIC-1 and 304 Updates 
We’re in the process of updating our LPIC-1 and LPIC-3 (304 - Virtualization & 
High Availability) exams to keep pace with the changes in the industry. Our new 
exams will launch in January 2015 and certification candidates will have the 
opportunity to take either the new exam or the current version through June 
2015. We introduced this change to our exam rollout process to allow candidates 
the option to test on the version that they have been recently studying from.
