To avoid scaring candidates I've phrased it as 'Regular Expressions using ., [ ], *, and ? in Extended Regular _expression_ syntax'."
Also I dare to suggest to mention passkeys besides 2FA (which is in the objectives already).

With respect to aligning Linux Essentials with LPIC-1, there is certainly not a 1:1 fit. However, this might not necessarily be necessary. The purpose of LPIC and the Essentials exams are different; the Essentials can be seen as 'academic' certificates which provide a preliminary introduction into various fields of IT and, when taken together, cover a broad amount of topics. If we align things, I would rather do it along the Essentials track, not upwards to LPIC. When taken together, Linux Essentials, Web Development Essentials and Security Essentials cover the disciplines of administration, development and security in a very comprehensive manner. LPIC on the other hand, is a professional certification track with exams that go into detail and are aligned on their way up to LPIC-3.

There were various ideas for extending the objectives to additional subjects. As mentioned earlier, if somehow possible I'd like to avoid changing the exam structure and weights. Similarly, when adding content to an objective, we should keep the objective at a roughly similar level. Therefore I would not add dedicated topics on mobile operating systems, git, editors, containers, immutable OS. We do already mention containers in 1.4, so we can expect candidates to recognize them. We now also have Alpine as an additional distribution, which will help to address containers, I think these two adjustments address Marco's suggestions regarding containers without changing the exam architecture.
