Hi,

I have just taken exam 1A.

Here are my comments and feelings as a result of this exam.

I was not happy that it would take 6 to 12 weeks for my result to be made
available to me by mail. One hopes that the result will be available more
quickly on the web.

It is possible to 'cheat' in a sense for some questions, because you can
review your answers, and at least one of the questions' answer is obvious
in another question. The question on how many time fields are available
for crontab entries can be answered by referring to the other question that
shows you a crontab entry or two ... :-) The same may be true of other
questions.

I felt that the exam was not easy. It was not impossible, but I felt that
there were questions in there that required you know exactly what the
options of various commands are ... Some of us simply do not carry that
around in our heads and refer to the manual pages ...

It is clear that someone cannot simply attend a week long course and then
sit the exam, which was probably the intent. However, as someone who has
designed a Linux course, and has probably taught Linux in Australia more
times than anyone else, the test interest me :-) I will probably sit it
again to see what the range of questions are the second time around, but I
can already see what I need to make sure people who take my courses need to
know to pass the test.
