Alan Mead asked for the titles of the areas, to be better able to form an
opinion. The things of particular interest are:
- are there psychometric complications or objections?
- how much hassle is it to actually move items belonging to specific areas
to another exam?

He also asked for the time frame. That is increasingly narrow: I am
leaving for S.F. Saturday morning, so I want to send a proposal to the AC
tomorrow evening my time, which means: within the next 24 hours. Oh well,
how many of you respond to e-mails more than a day old?

How to distribute the content of Level 1 over the exams?

I'll list area numbers, short title, (number of objectives), and total
weight.

Current 101:
         3 GNU & Unix Commands (7): 26
         4 Devices, Filesystems, FHS (8): 21
         6 Boot, init, shutdown, Runlevels (2): 6
         8 Documentation (4): 9
        11 Administration (5): 21
                                        Total 83

Current 102:
         1 Hardware & Architecture (3): 10
         2 Linux Installation & Package Management (6): 24
         5 Kernel (2): 7
         7 Text Editing, Processing, Printing (4): 8
         9 Shells, Scripting, Programming, Compiling (2): 9
        10 X (4): 10
        12 Networking Fundamentals (3): 18
        13 Networking Services (5): 20
        14 Security (3): 10
                                                Total 116

I propose to move Areas 7 (now: Printing) and 9 (Shells, scripting
etc.) to exam 101, to get more balanced exams; in the current revision:

New 101:
        103 GNU & Unix Commands (8): 28
        104 Devices, Filesystems, FHS (8): 21
        106 Boot, init, shutdown, Runlevels (2): 6
        107 Printing (3): 6
        108 Documentation (3): 8
        109 Shells, Scripting, Programming, Compiling (2): 9
        111 Administration (5): 21
                                                Total 99

New 102:
        101 Hardware & Architecture (5): 11
        102 Linux Installation & Package Management (6): 24
        105 Kernel (2): 7
        110 X (3): 9
        112 Networking Fundamentals (3): 18
        113 Networking Fundamentals (5): 20
        114 Security (3): 10
                                                Total 99

(Number of objectives and weights will change)
