There is a 'magicfilter' that does a very respectible job of recognizing input types and then producing PostScript for them... I stole^H^H^H^Hborrowed the method they used for file type recognition. Can you tell me what you would like the 'intelligent' filter to do? You may discover that you really need to process your 'image files' by hand first to get some sort of acceptible stuff.
