Hi all,

Wayne, I think all you have to do is to add :lpd_bounce to your
printcap entry. This enforces local processing of jobs for remote
     queues.
Without this lprng just passes the job on to the remote queue.

     bye

Betreff: LPRng: Getting linefeed --> Carriage-return/linefeed working

Gidday all,

I have an ancient DEC LA120 dotmatrix serial printer which is to be
connected via a print server to our Compaq Tru64 Unix system. The connection
prints via a printcap entry;

lp7| Network printer on Network Print Server p-hind7:\
      :lp=:\
      :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp7:\
      :lf=/var/spool/lpd/lp7/log:\
      :rm=p-hind7:\
      :rp=pr3:

When the print job is sent to the printer it staircases. In other words it
is only doing a linefeed while I need it to do a carriage-return/linefeed
combination.

I have tried everything I can think of, filters I have don't alter the
output. There is no lpd.conf entry (that I recognised) that would assist. I
just hope that perhaps somebody could offer a suggestion as to how do this
conversion.

The LA120 is is a really dumb printer and can barely understand Xon/Xoff.
The print server doesn't offer this conversion either.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks
