Hello all, I'm setting up LPRng to replace our custom printer environment. One of the goals is that client machines don't need to know about printers -- syncing printcap would be pain. To circumvent this, I've tried to use wildcard printcap in them: --- *:lp=%P@lpd --- Seems simple. And this works if people use something like 'lpq -Pprinter'. However, if they want to list all printers using 'lpq -a', evil stuff happens: --- printer '*' has illegal character at '*' in name --- However, as a workaround, 'lpq -Pall' works. This isn't the same thing though. Is there a way to get 'lpq -a' to work properly? Any suggestions for a dummy, forwarding client box printcap? I don't want to run lpd on client systems, btw. -- Pekka Savola "Tell me of difficulties surmounted, [EMAIL PROTECTED] not those you stumble over and fall" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you need help, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (or lprng-requests or lprng-digest-requests) with the word 'help' in the body.
