Nope, that is not it, plain text jobs cause that problem too,
the printer doesn't understand Postscript; postscript jobs
result in 'Wrong personality'. My guess is that when ifhp
converts the job to PCL it uses codes that these two
particular printers interpret as requests for tray 2 or
duplex. If you look at my previous message that details
how the printcap was modified to get this stuff to wok you'll
understand :). And mind you, I use ifhp-3.3.21 with newer
HP printers without problems, it's only those two HP 4s that
cause problems, they're quite old..

Ahhh!!! If the job is in PostScript, then take look at it and you
will discover that there is a bunch of stuff requesting some paper or
whatever in tray 2. Since the printer does not have a tray 2,
it is whining for one.
Either upgrade to a printer with 2 trays, or find the person who
sent the job and ask him to use a printer with 2 trays... :0)
