I have ifhp-3.4.2 and file-3.33 installed under Solaris 8 and I can not
get ifhp to recognize file types correctly. When I try to print a troff
or dvi no file conversion is being performed, the contents of the file
being printed is sent to the printer without any conversion. I can
convert files to postscript using a2ps with the same options specified
in ifhp.conf and file_util_path= points to the correct version of file. I
placed a wrapper around file to see how it is being called. I have LPRng
and ifhp working correctly under Linux and I used this as my comparison.
It looks like file is first called with '/usr/bin/file -' and then file is
called a second time using `/usr/bin/file -L /tmp/a2_hysDOd`. For some
reason the second call to file is not being performed under Solaris, is
this a problem with file, ifhp, ifhp.conf or some other file?
