Folks,

I'm currently running LPRng 3.6.26 and ifhp 3.4.1 on an SGI
Challenge L running IRIX 6.5.10. Every so often, we get multiple banner
pages for a single print job on our HP8100n printers. Hereunder is the
/etc/printcap entry for one of them:

hp8100a|first:\
        :rw
        :mx=0
        :bp=/usr/local/libexec/filters/psbanner
        :lp=treekiller4.cc.stevens-tech.edu%9100
        :af=hp.acct
        :lf=hp.log
        :filter=/usr/local/libexec/filters/ifhp
        :ifhp=model=hp8100
        :sd=/var/spool/lpd/hp8100a
        :ss=hp8100pool

Note that it's part of a pool, which has been set up by me in an
exceedingly simple-minded way:

laser|ps|lps|new:\
        :sd=/var/spool/lpd/hp8100pool
        :sv=hp8100a,hp8100b

Everything is standard from the LPRng and ifhp dists with the
exception of a change I made by hand to the psbanner; on line 88, I
added the following:

statusdict begin 0 setpapertray end

This forces the banner page to come from a secondary paper tray
(filled with blue paper so the operations staff can easily separate
print jobs). I'm sure there's a better way to make this happen, but I
don't know it and was in a rush when I was getting the system
installed.

Any clues as to what might be causing the multiple banner pages?

                                        --Joe
