I saw it with both (and indeed, mixing appsocket and lpd also triggered
it), but it could well be that the lpd emulation is the culprit; for
consistency of configuration I ended up using lpd with everything that
could speak it. (Which I'm reconsidering this time, both because our
configuration stuff is smarter now and because I'm switching from the
hacked-up lpf I inherited to ifhp.)
The biggest offenders were the 5SiMXs. I haven't tried it with the [48]xxx
series printers yet, but that'll happen when the new print server I'm
building reaches the point where I'm spooling from it as well as the old
server.
