My biggest concern was that LPRng offered a bunch of security features
and I didn't want to suddenly find that all of my users couldn't print
because I'd not set that up.

That was my other concern. The lpr that came with Red Hat 6.1 offered a
management and filter system, packages printtool and rhs-printfilters.
What happens to these when one upgrades to LPRng?
