Good shot but in the wrong direction :-}
In config.cache inet_ntop is set to "no", also in config.h it is not
defined. So, the problem is IMHO in the source code which overwrites the
configuration.
In LPRng the entry HAVE_INET_NTOP from config.h is scanned in
linksupport.c. In the source of ifhp you can find it in portable.h, but
the entries are different. I'm not the expert to say, if that's the
point.
