Hi,

I suspect Patrick will speak for himself at some point but
after I had terrible connection timeout problems with the
upgrade to the newest versions everything was fixed merely
by changing connect_timeout from 10 to 60 in lpd.conf.

That seemed to fix almost everything here.  We still have
problems where a printer is just not capable of printing
a particular file (eg ps level 3 on a level 2 printer)
but that is hp's fault.  I understand that you can't upgrade
the postscript engine on printers.
