It looks like you might have a couple of syntax errors in the printcap. mx
and ml take integer values instead of strings, so they should be written
with a # separating them from their integer values, like so:

:bkf:\
:rm=laserdep:\
:rp=raw:\
:sd=/var/spool/printer/laserdep:\
:sh:
checkpc should definitely be complaining about this problem.
