Hi all,
I'm using RedHat 7.1 with the latest updates to the RPM's (full
install). My system runs under devfs, and I have an HP DeskJet 500 attached
to my parallel port. This device pops up as /dev/printers/0 when the
appropriate modules are inserted. [parport, parport_pc and lp]. My problem
is, that when I attempt to print anything to the spooler, I permanently get
the following:
Printer: lp0@fruits
Queue: 1 printable job
Server: pid 2705 active
Unspooler: pid 2713 active
Status: attempt 2, sleeping 10 before retry at 16:34:30.970
Rank Owner/ID Class Job Files Size Time
active(attempt-2) neilm A 704 (STDIN) 5
16:34:30
Eventually, it transitions to :
Printer: lp0@fruits
Queue: no printable jobs in queue
Status: removing job 'cfA704fruits.foobarhouse.com' - JREMOVE at
16:35:01.571
However, if I do "echo foobar > /dev/printers/0" the printer works happily.
Any ideas appreciated.
Regards,
--Neil.
