The trick is to configure your terminal server so that you can
open a 'telnet' session to the port and have the terminal server handle
all of the dirty work. It turns out that the configuration of this
is usually pretty simple for most terminal servers and routers.
SAVE THE CONFIGURATION! Put it on a floppy/CDROM + HARD COPY so the
next poor devil does not have to guess it.
Once you have done this, you can almost always open a connection
to a port on the server/router:
lp:lp=ip.address%port:...
:ifhp=status@
:filter=/..../ifhp
If your printer has 'status' information sent back over the
serial port (unlikely, it sounds), and you are using ifhp,
make sure that you set the 'status@' flag so that ifhp
does not try to read status from the printer.
