Do you know what this two entries in the control files are used for?

J/net/bingo/home/ems/gv_3baf377b_1_test1.ps.tmp
N/net/bingo/home/ems/gv_3baf377b_1_test1.ps.tmp

Both for a possible banner page?
What does the "J" mean? And the "N"?

I found that when sending a "marked page" from gv, this two entries in the control file
are pointing to a filename that doesn't exist. But the corresponding data file is there
and is ok. Still the print server (connected to the printer's parallel port) dies. No
ping responses anymore ...

The safe_char=/ didn't (still) really help ...

Where can I find a description of the data file? RFCs? Hewlett-Packard?

Thanks, Richard

Unix IS user friendly. It's just selective about who its friends are.
