Amazing! I didn't think that the pap utility set up
a bidirectional link. Wonder if it worked...

OOOHHHH... look, got sync

> (of) pagecounter 515 at 10:26:35.484
And a page count

Ahhh... here we go... For some reason it did not like the
PJL at the end of the job. So it assumed that the
job had an error and went on to the pagecount
> offendingcommand = '' at 10:26:36.811
> end of job detected at 10:26:37.779
> pagecounter 515 after 1 attempts at 10:26:37.847
> pagecounter 515, pages 0 at 10:26:37.848
Which it got.
It looks like you are going to have to find out what the problem
with the 'wait for end of job'.
Try using:
:lp=| -$ /usr/bin/pap -e -p cdc3:cdc3@9100
:af=/var/spool/lpd/atalk3/acct
:lf=/var/spool/lpd/atalk3/log
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/atalk3
:sh
:ifhp=sync,ps_eoj_at_start@,of_options=pagecount,waitend,debug=3
^^^^^^^^^
Turn on debugging to level 3
:filter=/usr/libexec/filters/ifhp
:of=/usr/libexec/filters/ifhp
WARNING: you will probably get LOTS of output...
