I have set up a print server running on a FreeBSD 3.4 machine using lprng 3.7.4. I have installed lprng on one of our client machine which is running SunOS 4.1.4. Everything is working fine except for the following problems.
I have set the default printer in the lpd.conf file, but LPRng still sees lp as the default printer, see below: bash-2.00$ lpstat -d system default destination: lp bash-2.00$ lpq Printer: lp@hunterston - ERROR: spool queue for 'lp' does not exist on server hunterston.cam.harlequin.co.uk non-existent printer or you need to run 'checkpc -f' I have run checkpc -f and this returns no errors. I have not defined lp in the printcap file, although the default printer that I am defining is the first entry in the printcap file. The other problem when updating the lpd.conf file on the client machine is that lpc reread does not allow me to reread the config, [@fin:jameso]# /usr/local/sbin/lpc reread no permission to control server I have been playing around trying to fix this with no success and help would be gratefully received ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- YOU MUST BE A LIST MEMBER IN ORDER TO POST TO THE LPRNG MAILING LIST The address you post from MUST be your subscription address If you need help, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (or lprng-requests or lprng-digest-requests) with the word 'help' in the body. For the impatient, to subscribe to a list with name LIST, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with: | example: subscribe LIST <mailaddr> | subscribe lprng-digest [EMAIL PROTECTED] unsubscribe LIST <mailaddr> | unsubscribe lprng [EMAIL PROTECTED] If you have major problems, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word LPRNGLIST in the SUBJECT line. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
