Try: > > configure --disable-shared I've done this even with 3.8.4 (which builds fine on SGI IRIX 6.5) and I do get the same result. One point has changed with respect to the build of 3.8.1. I'm now using gcc-3.120011219 (experimental) (cvs version) which seems to work fine a) for compiling itself and b) some other packages here.
