FWIW: This is precisely what it looked like to me when I did tcpdumps and
a host of other things - that the jobs simply were never getting to the
server! Very odd, but 3.8.1 is fine. (I did not bother with Win clients
under my 3.8.4 testing - I figured enough pain was enough pain :) )

LB. Hi all,
LB.
LB. I followed the earlier thread about not being able to print from MacOS X
LB. and other lp clients. I wanted to add that I have a few Win98 clients
LB. with HP's lpr software that comes with their 4100 printers. When they
LB. tried to print to a 3.8.4 server, it appeared like the jobs weren't even
LB. making it to the machine - I had debugging on and didn't see any entries.
LB. Switching to 3.8.1 fixed the problem!

LB. Thanks,
