Hi,

thanks to Christoph; his methods works. I tried
Joel's advice (gs) too, however, with bad results so far.
Maybe the reason is gs does not like PDF as stdin, as the
use.htm of gs 7.03 says:

  ...
  PDF files from standard input

Using the "-" or "-_" switch you can provide PDF input from a file,
but not from a pipe, because the PDF language, unlike the PostScript
language, inherently requires random access to the file, while a pipe is
  always sequential. That is,

     gs -_ < somefile.pdf (is permissible)
{some program producing PDF} | gs -_ (is not permissible)
  ...

Anyway, maybe Patrick can fix it in future releases of ifhp??

Thanks for all who contributed,

Thies Meincke
