This may be easy or hard. Random ideas: 1. Could this be a header or banner being printed? 2. Are you sure the lines are blank. Have you tried to redirect the output to a file and examine the file directly? 3. What kind of printer is it? Are you sending text, postscript, or some binary file for a non-postscript printer. 4. Post your /etc/printcap file. 5. It sounds as if three comuters are involved. Could the Linux server be adding something in route? Are the extra lines creeping in on the OpenVMS system or from the linux system? 6. Can you transfer the file to windows via ftp and print it directly from there without going through the printing software on the OpenVMS system or linux? 7. Does this only happen with this one type of file or with all files? Joel
