Before the responses start coming in, I was in a foul mood when I first came across this problem, and rattled off my first email about it before I searched the list. I see some suggestions were made for setting the DGETENV variable to '0', to which I say: bzzt, wrong answer.
Something is fundamentally wrong with the build if I have to start adding "fixes" to my build line or editing the Makefile. The new security pro- tection needs to have a closer look to see what's really happening here. I also saw mention of 3.8.7 by Patrick, but it doesn't seem to be on the web/ftp site... is it still unreleased?
