A further refinement I suggest is that the "stable" version include bug fixes
for serious bugs so that we don't have to upgrade to the ALPHA version to fix
bugs in the STABLE version. This means that the STABLE version would change
slightly and may need a new version number, maybe a fourth decimal digit or an
alpha suffix. I know this is extra work for you, but it would make life a lot
easier for the rest of us.

  | Subject: LPRng: Suggestion for a 'test version' |
  >----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

One of the problems I am running into is the need for a 'stable'
and a 'test' version.

I also need to have folks compile and run this stuff.

Now I cannot offer big money, but I an offer:

1. Green LPRng Polo-shirts (Washed once to get the &*()*()&
sizing out, don't ask. They even said: 'advise washing before
   wearing.')

2. About 2,000 coffee cups with the wrong phone number (PacBell
announced the area code change the day after they finished printing
   the mugs).

3. My gratitude.

The LPRng site will have:
www.lprng.com/DISTRIB/LPRng/ALPHA/... <- here be test stuff

I will make announcements about this, and ask for feedback.
After a week (or whatever), I will the ALPHA version up to
the 'main release'.

Any other ideas?
