Hello,
I am new on this mailing list and I am currently setting up the latest
version of LPRng (3.8.9) on our system. Our current version is pretty
old (3.5.1). We have a common print server for all computers (47 x Linux,
18 x Solaris, 9 x Irix) and all our printers (11).
We don't have a printcap on the local machines, but a lpd.conf entry:
default_remote_host=printserv

My Question: is the first line of the example really necessary?
The following printcap seems to work very well:
busch:cm=PostScript HP LaserJet 5M Wilhelm Busch
:server:mx#0
:lpd_bounce
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/busch_duplex
:lf=/var/log/lpd-errs-busch_duplex
:filter=/usr/local/bin/magicfilter
:lp=busch_raw
busch_raw:cm=PostScript HP LaserJet 5M Wilhelm Busch
:server:mx#0
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/busch_raw
:lf=/var/log/lpd-errs-busch_raw
:lp=busch%9100
Thanks,
Torsten
