Hi,

for historical reasons we have our log files in /var/log/. The
printcap lines for each printer are similar to:

> macke_raw:cm=Tektronix Phaser 740 Macke
> :lf=/var/log/lpd-errs-%P
> :[...]

I wonder why `checkpc -f` is not creating the log files. The output
of `checkpc -f -V -D1` looks as follows:

> 2002-03-28-20:49:22.924 printserv [26537] checkpc macke_raw: Make_write_file
>'/var/log/lpd-errs-macke_raw'
> checking '/var/log/lpd-errs-macke_raw' file
> Warning - ** cannot open '/var/log/lpd-errs-macke_raw' - 'Permission denied'

Is this behavior intended? Permissions of /var/log are 755 and checkpc
was run as root.

  Torsten
