Well, what *THAT* sounds like is stairstepping.  The file is getting sent
as straight text, with only linefeeds as line terminators, and the printer
is not configured to do an auto-CR-on-linefeed.  So the print head goes
off the paper to the right, or the printer knows it's off & doesn't print
anything.

But I could be wrong.
