I am using lprng 3.7.4 on SUSE 7.2 (kernel 2.4.4) to print to two remote
printers. 1 is a label printer connected to a HP170x print server and the
other is a HP 6P connected to a HP170x print server.

Both work however intermittently the printing stops to the HP 6P. When I do
a lpq -L -Pxxx I see that the job has stalled and is awaiting a response to
either "Status: requesting printer [EMAIL PROTECTED] at 12:12:16.401" or
even the next line that is "Status: sending control file 'cfA329pallas' to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] at 12:12:19.461".

If I turn the printer off and on it seems to then start working again.

I have read issues with TCPIP timeouts and wonder if something like that is
happening here. Does anyone have any problems with this particular printer?
I am using a printcap with rm and rp and have tried direct socket printing
as well (9100). Same problem. NB : I am not using the ifhp filter at all.
Would this help?

David
