This was too simple...

IF you have an HP Laserjet printer
AND you send a PostScript job via TCP/IP (port 9100)
AND the PostScript job does not have a ^D (Postscript End of Job) at end
AND you have a TCP/IP connection timeout value set via the control panel
  (90 seconds is common)

THEN you get a 'postscript' timeout error if the PostScript job is sent
AND it prints a page
AND there is no more data received

Now the question is 'WHAT the HEY?  Why is it GIVING me an error?'
But I don't want to go there...
