Hello,

I use the following packages: LPRng-3.8.10-1 and ifhp-3.5.7-1 (Mandrake
8.1). My printer is a 'Epson Stylus Color 600'. After reading the ifhp
howto, I thought I had to include the following lines in the 'printcap'
file:

:filter=/usr/libexec/filters/ifhp
:ifhp=model=stc600pl.upp,status@

The problem is that, with lines above, my printer doesn't work well;
 when I do a test with both a pdf and a ps file, I obtain very strange
texts (codes), something like this:

@PJL RESET
@PJL JOB NAME="...
...
...

Because of it I think that, after I've specified my Epson, options of
the default printer are still on. Is it true?

After reading other part of the howto, I knew that I could shape my
printer in other way:

:filter=/usr/libexec/filters/ifhp
:ifhp=model=gs,gs_device=stcolor,gs_options=-r360

That is to say using the Ghostscript program directly; I don't see it
well, because as you know the objetive of a filter is to hide us these
steps and programs. Furthermore, when I used the 'lprngtool', it made a
'printcap' file (which doesn't work) very similar to my initial file;
because of it I believe that my printer can be shaped with the next lines:

:filter=/usr/libexec/filters/ifhp
:ifhp=model=stc600pl.upp,status@

Please, Where is my problem?

I have a very similar problem with the Magicfilter. I think that it
should work with the following line, but it doesn't do:

:filter=/usr/sbin/printers/stylus_color_360dpi

On the other hand, my printer goes fine with the Apsfilter.

NOTE: I use the following 'printcap' file:

Epson600|lp:
:lp=/dev/lp0
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/Epson600
:lf=/var/spool/lpd/Epson600/errs
:filter=/usr/libexec/filters/ifhp
:ifhp=model=stc600pl.upp,status@
:force_localhost
:mx#0
:ff_separator@
:sh

Thank you! and sorry for my horrible English (I'm from Spain, Canary
islands)
