This is a wish-list, not a list of non-negotiable demands. :-) The problems below are encountered using the 'configure' script as delivered in the 3.8.14 distribution.
1) The default is to build the client programs setuid root. This is not my understanding of how it's supposed to be. 2) 'setruid' is selected by 'configure' for use under AIX. Although the setruid routine exists in the AIX libraries, IT IS CAREFULLY DOCUMENTED AS BEING BROKEN. The configure script should show this routine as non-existant on all AIX systems. 3) There are compilation warnings under AIX. Since the default is to treat warnings as errors, this terminates compilation. If the warnings are not worth fixing, then a 'configure' option should be provided to remove '-Werror' from the compiler options. -Rick -- |Rick Cochran phone: 607-255-7618| |Cornell CIT - Systems & Operations - Net-Print FAX: 607-255-8521| |730 Rhodes Hall, Ithaca, N.Y. 14853 email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]| ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- YOU MUST BE A LIST MEMBER IN ORDER TO POST TO THE LPRNG MAILING LIST The address you post from MUST be your subscription address If you need help, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (or lprng-requests or lprng-digest-requests) with the word 'help' in the body.
