Can anyone
explain the significance of the output received from the first read on stdin issued
by my output filter program launched by lpd:-
OF filter msg -
'030116153021(01427) # read(0,,1024)...' at
2003-01-16-15:30:50.923 ## A=u1@localhost+424 number=424 process=1426
OF filter msg -
'030116153021(01427) # ...got 2 bytes data' at 2003-01-16-15:30:50.924 ##
A=u1@localhost+424 number=424 process=1426
OF filter msg - '<19 01
This is from Linux running on
Red Hat 7.3.
On earlier versions of Red
Hat running standard lp this used to return the first
1024 bytes of the file to be printed.
Ignoring the
2 bytes just results in the next read hanging.
