LPRng: Why is 'filter' not listed in the printcap options?

The listing of "All The Configuration and Printcap Options" in Appendix A 
of the most recent LPRng HOWTO (17 Jan 2003) 
(http://www.lprng.com/LPRng-HOWTO-Multipart/optionindex.htm)
does not include the option 'filter', but does include the option 'if'.  

Is this absence just a bug?
