Please help. I'm having a difficult time getting an HP8000 to record the
page counters to the accounting file without causing lpd to reprint the
jobs over and over.

I'm using ifhp-3.5.10 and LPRng-3.8.21 on solaris8.

The problem is as follows:

If I use status@, the job prints fine, just once (banner page and
datafile), but I don't get a page counter.

start '-q15607' '-p0' '-t2003-08-27-09:40:27.160' ...
end '-b0' '-T112' '-q15607' '-p0' '-t2003-08-27-09:42:18.311'....

If I use status, I get page counters but the job prints over and over
waiting for some return value from the printer.

start '-q15179' '-p70939' '-t2003-08-27-09:35:42.007'.....
filestart '-q15201' '-p70940' '-t2003-08-27-09:38:01.007'....
fileend '-b1' '-T149' '-q15201' '-p70941' '-t2003-08-27-09:38:17.037'....
start '-q15457' '-p70941' '-t2003-08-27-09:38:40.027'....

It never gets the end of printing from the printer, so it keeps printing
the job over and over.

I've used waitend@, pagecount=ps, just pagecount, (with and without
status), in dizzingly varying combinations, and the results are the same.
It either gives me a page count and the job prints over and over, or it just gives me
a pagecount of 0 and the
job prints fine.

Please, if there is a combination of printcap entries that will cause the
job to print just once and record the page counter to the accounting file
on the HP8000. I need to know what they are.

Thank you.

Al.
