I have two laptops on a LAN. Both print to a deskjet 3820
which is attached to a third host. All three boxes have lprng
*.debs installed. Printing worked great until recently, perhaps
beginning on the date I upgraded one laptop from potato
to woody.
Now, the upgraded laptop prints 'lpr /etc/motd' fine, but no
longer prints properly from Staroffice or Acrobat, instead
printing:
Conversion failed for type ''

However, 'lpq -L' indicates JSUCC exit status for these jobs.
The lprng, ifhp, gs-aladdin versions are identical on both laptops,
as are the /etc/lprng/* and ifhp.conf files, and the SysV lprng
init script (identical on both laptops) set PATH.
Based on my rudimentary understanding of lprng, and because it
appears the 'Error:..' line is printed by ifhp.c, I concluded that
problem is related to ifhp-3.5.10 configuration:
I followed the debugging suggestions in the IFHP-HOWTO, replacing
'/etc/motd' in 'send' with a Staroffice or pdf file. The resultant 'trace'
output is identical for the two laptops, even with debug=2.
What am I missing? TIA for your help!
