Mea Culpa! Mea Culpa! Mea much stupido.
I was adding this and got interrupted and did not update the
CHANGES.
Just for the record:
The current views on 'configuration' is that services that require
some sort of configuration files (/etc/stuff) should put their files
in a subdirectory associated with the program.
Thus, /etc/cups, /etc/lprng (/etc/lpd ?).
HOWEVER, putting /etc/printcap in /etc/lprng/printcap breaks every
tool that uses the printcap.
Sooooo.... it should be left in /etc/printcap.
But you can put all the other stuff in /etc/lpd.
See configure --help:
--with-config_subdir=CONFIG_SUBDIR configuration subdirectory (default 'lpd')
--with-lpddir=DIR lpd executable directory (default \${sbindir})
--with-lpd_conf_path=PATH path of lpd.conf (default:
\${sysconfdir}/${CONFIG_SUBDIR}/lpd.conf)
--with-lpd_perms_path=PATH path of lpd.perms (default:
\${sysconfdir}/${CONFIG_SUBDIR}/lpd/lpd.perms)
--with-printcap_path=PATH path of printcap (default \${sysconfdir}/printcap)
--with-lpd_printcap_path=PATH path of lpd_printcap (default
\${sysconfdir}/${CONFIG_SUBDIR}/lpd_printca
Note: Once again the autoconf stuff has changed. Now you do not get the
variables expanded... Sigh...
