Greetings, all

i am new to LPRng and AIX.

LPRng-3.8.19 , ifhp-3.5.11 on Redhat 9.
LPRng-3.7.4(man lpd shows) on AIX 4.3
printers: HP4100 HP4000 HP2100 network print.

two questions :

1.
By reading the list archive, i know there has been an accounting.pl file used for
accounting. i
searched linux box and only found accounting.sh. where can i get the accounting.pl
file(didn't
find it on lprng.com) ?
it says in the sh file that it will be used for OF filter which is related to banner.
but i won't
need banner.

i will need to do printing quota. i guess i can add quota update to the accounding.pl.
right? and
what argument should i passed to the perl script?

2.
The AIX box is a samba PDC. users login thr PDC to print. but currently the printing
quota is
administrate by another department. now we want to take over and have full control.

i don't think AIX is using LPRng. /etc/qconfig is configured as

printer1:
        device = @dart
        up = TRUE
        host = dart.domain.ca
        s_statfilter = /usr/lib/lpd/bsdshort
        l_statfilter = /usr/lib/lpd/bsdlong
        rq = r1104
@dart:
        backend = /usr/lib/lpd/rembak

i have never deal with a AIX before.
now i need to send this to our own linux machine, besides changing the host name in
qconfig,
anything else do i need to do for the AIX?

any special config for the linux lpd server ?

oh, i have long been wodering how the print jobs show up on the LCD screen
(software/hardware?)..
anyone can shed some light?

many thanks!

Qiang
