I recently bought an HP 2280tn. It comes with PostScript and Ethernet. I've got it working with LPRng using the "postscript" model, and it seems to work fine with everything I throw at it.

HP has a PPD, part of hpijs-1.5, for both the PostScript and HPIJS capabilities of this printer; e.g., photo printing (which I'd like to do occasionally).

I'm using LPRng-3.8.22, and LPRngTool 1.3.2 and would like to add (or replace the existing) the two PPD's so I can use the full capabilities of the printer and I'm more than a little confused about using foomatic-rip along with LPRng (seems to sort of work).

Is there a way to incorporate these (GPL) PPD's into LPRng? Are there any hints about using foomatic-rip with LPRng? Is there a way to add the descriptions to ifhp or a configure file?

Thanks.
