1. When a print job dies a horrible death and disappears, root gets an email... can the user sending it get a copy as well? I see:

defaulted ok... but doesn't email users when jobs go into oblivion, just the root account
(since mail_operator_on_error=root)

i run into this too. The issues include (note, there are a few) 1) if you have xp personal firewall turned on, it may block out samba print completion notification 2) access denials in samba can be due to the permissions on the print share defined in smb.conf. There are new parameters in 2.2.7 or 8 that include "write list" and "printer admin" that can be changed to get rid of the access denials
