Hi All,
Trust an engineer to be using a 24-pin dot Matrix and then complain about problems... perhaps the 'fix' in this sense is a little more 'global' ;-)
They still make them (not that model but all the 24 pin ones use the same GhostScript driver) and businesses still buy and use them.
Seriously though, have a look at the logs in the printers spool directory to identify the problem (usually /var/spool/lpd/<printer>), saying it simply doesn't work is not actually very helpful.
What I probably didn't make clear was that it isn't supported. There is no entry for it in the: "ifhp.conf" file. I presume that that is somewhat helpful.
And, my best guess didn't make it work. I'm not asking for help debugging this. I am asking that somebody who knows tell me what to add to the file to make it work.
<SNIP>
I have added this to: "ihfp.conf":
# PRINTER gs_epson24 - Epson LQ1000 [ gs_epson24 ] tc=ghostscript gs_device=epson gs_options=-r360x180
This doesn't work. :-( I presume that this is the problem.
Note that I did do some debugging with another method -- a fake GhostScript -- and found that the filter isn't calling GhostScript.
I'll try it again and check the logs.
