..and I have that in my ifhp.conf too.  It seems to be that which is 
stopping it from printing - at least, if I just set it to be hp4000 it 
prints but doesn't do the accounting. (As you'd expect).

Well, I couldn't find anything relevant in the archives.

Is that pjl_waitend thing an ifhp thing, or does it require a later version 
of lprng too?  The 'current' version in gentoo is 3.8.22, and while I have 
absolutely no problem in compiling it up by hand, I'm trying as much as 
possible to stick to the 'official' packages for both dependancies and 
ability to flag updates.
