Hi all! I´m new to the list and I hope it´s not the wrong place for my question.
Are there some plans who to identify which distribution is running? I know about some files from RedHat, SuSE and Debian: /etc/redhat-release /etc/SuSE-release /etc/debian_version A file like /etc/LINUX-release would be fine I think. It could contain some information like the name of the distribution, the version number and the architecture... like DISTRIBUTION = SuSE VERSION = 7.0 ARCH = i386 and maybe some additional infos... What do you think about? Liebe Gruesse, yours Stephan Lauffer [ Paedagogische Hochschule Freiburg - Systemtechnik - Germany ] [ Abteilung ZIK: WWW ]
