X libraries in SI

I'm trying to run the xpaint conforming
package inside the SI, and it fails to
find any of the X libs. 

Setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/X11R6/lib
makes it work.

Shouldn't path-to-X-libraries be part
of the default?
