For what it is worth, sendmail(8) is in section 8 of the BSD System Manager's Manual. Applications like mail(1) and mailx(1) provide the user interfaces that are documented by the LSB.
http://www.linuxbase.org/cu/ Is it within the scope of the LSB to create policies regarding the intended interfaces of system utilities like sendmail(8), rmt(8), talkd(8), telnetd(8), ...? Cheers, PS: It appears from the TOG and LSB charts that mailx(1) is the standard over the legacy mail(1) command. Do we know for certain if all Linux systems will be using just one of sendmail, ssmtp, zmailer, or exim?
