Thanks for replying.  I resolved the problem by using version 1.22 instead of 
version 2.0.  Using exactly the same credentials and URL, I can connect with 
the earlier version.

No, it just do a standard LDAP bind. Using ldapsearch with the same
parameters than LSC should return the same result.
