Hi Folks, The WG is being presented with multiple solutions to a similar problem in the Area Proxy and Flood Reflector drafts. Both sets of authors plan to ship an implementation and are seeking early allocation of code points to do so.
The Expert Reviewers have indicated they wish to see the WG first adopt the drafts prior to granting these early allocations (as that has been the precedent and they didn't feel an exception was warranted in this case). In the interest of full-disclosure I am one of the experts and was willing to grant both drafts early allocation, but was convinced by the other experts to go otherwise :) In order to better allow for the adoption of more than one draft, we asked the authors if they would be OK to have their draft adopted along the Experimental track. We felt this might allow both drafts to obtain the WG adoption easier than if they were vying to be a "Standards Track" solution from the WG. Both groups agreed to this idea. So with that we will be issuing 2 adoption calls one for Area Proxy and one for Flood Reflection in separate emails threads for each to be adopted on the Experimental track. This normally goes w/o saying but as there are multiple adoption calls being issued for solutions to a similar problem please don't just +1 unless you actually think the WG resources should be spent working on the given draft.
