Again, leader election is derived from DIS election, so this begs the question: are you skeptical of DIS election? Do you have interoperable IS-IS on LANs today? If your skepticism reaches to the centralized flooding topology algorithm, then I’ll point out that the interoperability issue is the ability to follow the leader’s directions. That should not be difficult. If your skepticism is about a distributed flooding topology algorithm, then I agree. We have yet to demonstrate interoperability of any distributed algorithm more complex than SPF, and the proposed flooding topology algorithms are a bit more complex than that. I would welcome a multi-vendor example of this working, but until then, I also am concerned.
