schema
=======
--> start working on generating schema from uml usecases
- looking at schema will help spot missing things
- will learn how to do it, the sooner the better
Nicole found some problems with EA related to generating
schema
- sounds like more than what Jacek found while playing
with prototype schema
- will summarize and send us
--> create doc in plone capturing our experience with
generating schema from EA
Nicole/Russell working on making their schema fully
compliant with LSST use cases
Also, we should start working on 'coding' standard
for schema
- first step: list issues, things like
- naming convention
- varchar vs text vs char
- etc
Last time we played with prototype schema we found issues
with generating SQLServer-compatible version
- need to better understand the issues
Action items
- Nicole: summarize problems related to generating schema in EA
- Jacek: put in plone
- Nicole: send location of your schema model in EAP
- Jacek: coordinate documenting coding standards for schema
- Maria: check sql server compatibility in EA
ingest tests
============
Ani/Maria:
- have new server (SQL Server 2005/Yukon)
- there will be some learning curve
- decided to work on 100 files (100 GB) at a time
- unzipping takes long time: 2-3 days / 100GB (~8 KB/sec).
Done on a slower hardware, not the latest server
- also reformatting to sql server format: striping the \Ns,
and replacing the lfs with cr/lf (DOS-ifying).
- should be ready to load data in the next couple of days
Jacek:
- looks like the hardware problems at slac finally solved
(replacing HBA helped)
- action item: send to Ani/Maria the C++ test used to
measure io performance at slac.
Others
======
- need to finish the cross matching use cases
- Ani/Maria: check what needs to be done
- Maria's Provenance Use Case sent on 1/27 to lsst-data
- ok to put in uml
- Maria?
Next meeting in 2 weeks.

Hi,
We have a Database telecon tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11:00 PST.
Phone number: 866 330 1200
passcode: 300 2363
A fairly light agenda: let's discuss the LSST schema,
in particular
- how much longer we should be using the existing
prototype schema
- when should we start generating lsst schema corresponding
to what is in uml
- what schema (and data) to use for future tests
Jacek
